eBRT2030 moving LATAM forward at the region’s Electromobility Forum

Drawing nearly 100 local, regional, and national leaders from across Latin America and the Caribbean, the LATAM Electromobility Forum was a big event for electric mobility. eBRT2030 participated in the forum, held in Bogotá, Colombia, to discuss the opportunities and challenges brought about by electric mobility.

In the framework of the SolutionsPlus project, the forum provided the space for global experts in the public transport sector to share some important insights. For both eBRT2030 and SolutionsPlus, in which UITP is also a partner, global replication is an important topic: both projects are collaborating with partners across the world to exchange lessons learned and allow replicability of innovations.

At the Forum:

  • EMT Madrid, Enel X, Vg Mobility, Transmilenio, and Grupo ETRA participated in a panel on public transport electrification in cities moderated by UITP’s Flavio Grazian
  • UITP Academy led a session on the ‘electrification of public transport’
  • ICLEI and the Wuppertal Institute explored ‘Low-carbon urban logistics’

As for eBRT2030, the project highlighted solutions for electric buses in the region. For example, by showcasing the innovations that the project will implement on the BRT feeder line operated by La Rolita in Bogotá, as well as other activities such as possible feasibility studies on the electrification of the BRT in Quito, Ecuador. In addition, technical site visits were organised in two depots in Bogotá: one with La Rolita/VG Mobility and another with Green Móvil. As well, meetings were held with Scania Colombia.

In short, not only was the forum a place to share and learn from expert insights, it was also important as a chance for eBRT2030’s partners to connect with local stakeholders and to grow the project’s network – and in turn, its impact.
